Baker Archeological & Recreation Site

White Pine County, NV

Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.

On the valley floor north of the modern town of Baker, Nevada, Baker Village was a Fremont agricultural settlement occupied roughly 1220–1295 CE. Brigham Young University and the BLM excavated pit houses, granaries, and a central big house in 1991–1994, then backfilled the features for protection. Modern low walls mark building footprints; a parking area has a kiosk, restroom, picnic tables, and shade. The BLM administers the site, and National Park Service pages for adjacent Great Basin National Park explain it.
