Great Basin National Park runs from the 13,063-foot summit of Wheeler Peak down through glacial cirques and ancient bristlecone stands to sagebrush foothills. Lehman Caves, a marble cave system open only on ranger-guided tours, has drawn visitors since the late 1800s and was a national monument before the park was established in 1986. Very dark night skies, alpine lakes, and summer access on the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive are part of the park.
