A 13-mile paved loop off NM-378 north of Questa, the Wild Rivers Back Country Byway serves the Wild Rivers Recreation Area in Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. Overlooks include La Junta Point above the confluence of the Red River and Rio Grande, roughly 800 feet below the rim. The area has a seasonal visitor center, campgrounds, and trails that drop into the basalt gorge.
