A linked series of limestone caves opens on the north wall of American Fork Canyon. Visitors hike a paved 1.5-mile trail that gains about 1,100 feet to a portal where only ticketed, ranger-guided tours enter Hansen, Middle, and Timpanogos caves. The monument was established by presidential proclamation and is administered by the National Park Service; cave tours generally run late May through early October and often sell out.
