Stoneman Lake

Nearly circular natural lake in a volcanic bowl or collapse feature on the Coconino National Forest south of Flagstaff—one of Arizona’s few natural lakes. USFS overlook and picnic site sit above basalt slopes of Gambel oak and ponderosa; water levels fluctuate and the lake sometimes goes dry, but it remains a noted waterfowl and songbird stop on the Arizona Birding Trail. Electric motors only when water allows; private cabins around the shore—stay on public recreation sites.
