Half-million-acre high-desert refuge on the NV–OR line established for American pronghorn (1931; expanded as Charles Sheldon Antelope Range). Sagebrush tablelands, rimrock gorges, and springs support pronghorn, greater sage-grouse, California bighorn, and redband trout; Virgin Valley campground is a common visitor base near Denio.
