Grant County’s first county seat and one of southwestern New Mexico’s earliest gold camps (Spanish for “tall pines”), high in the Pinos Altos Mountains above Silver City. NRHP historic district with 1860s log cabins, church, cemetery, and Buckhorn Saloon streetscape open to self-guided wandering at the edge of Gila National Forest.
