Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.
About 20,000 acres of Verde Rim country managed by the Tonto and Prescott National Forests. The area rises to pine and mixed-conifer cover above chaparral slopes, with trail routes into the wilderness from forest roads. Solitude and cross-country travel are the main draws; facilities at the boundary are minimal.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
