Manly Peak Wilderness protects high desert slopes of the southern Panamint Range, including Manly Peak itself, on the edge of Death Valley country in Inyo County. Access is typically from State Highway 178 north of Trona via Ballarat and then 4WD routes such as Goler Wash or South Park Canyon. The unit is roadless wilderness. Visitors hike from the surrounding dirt roads into steep, dry canyons and ridgelines.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
