Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.
Lower Range Creek Trailhead opens into Range Creek Canyon in the Book Cliffs. Fremont-period sites are dense here, managed under a strict visitor permit system. BLM, state, and private parcels intermix; permits for non-BLM segments come through the Natural History Museum of Utah or Utah DWR with daily visitor caps. The canyon is studied as a field station for archaeology and conservation.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
