Little Picacho Wilderness lies in Imperial County west of the Colorado River near Imperial Dam. Volcanic peaks and desert washes define the unit. Ferguson Wash Road and State Route S-24 are the main approaches. The wilderness adjoins the river corridor and sees light foot and horse use relative to more famous California desert units.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
