Latuda

Carbon County, UT

Coordinate verified

Spring Canyon coal camp in Carbon County, opened after Francisco Latuda and Charles Picco secured coal land in 1917 and launched the Liberty mine under Liberty Fuel Company. Population peaked near four hundred; the post office ran 1920–1958, and the camp emptied by the mid-1960s. It sits on the Helper-area Spring Canyon coal-town string with coal portals and unstable tipple remains—do not enter mine openings.
