Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.

Lake Tahoe Dam is an 18-foot-high, 109-foot-long concrete gravity structure at Tahoe City where the lake empties into the Truckee River. Built by the Bureau of Reclamation as part of the Newlands Project and completed around 1913, it controls only the top 6.1 feet of the lake through a seventeen-bay gated spillway. The dam is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is easy to see from the Fanny Bridge area; the nearby Gatekeeper’s Museum interprets the outlet and related history.
