John Muir National Historic Site

National Park Service unit in Martinez preserving the 1882–1914 home, orchards, and part of the fruit ranch of naturalist and conservationist John Muir — often called the father of the National Park system. Visitor center, house tours, grounds, and the nearby Mount Wanda trail unit interpret Muir’s writing years and family life in the Alhambra Valley. Clear public NPS access distinct from Port Costa and Black Diamond Mines already kept for Contra Costa.
