First Lander County seat (1862–63) on the Reese River west of Austin — Overland Stage, Pony Express, and early telegraph relay stop founded by sheriff George Washington Jacobs in 1859. Boom faded once Austin took the seat; stone foundations remain about a half-mile north of Nevada Historical Marker 66 on US-50.
