High meadow campground on Mount Graham’s Swift Trail (AZ 366) named for the 1880s U.S. Army field hospital that treated ailing Fort Grant soldiers and later hosted officers’ families escaping desert heat. Coronado National Forest still manages the flat as a cool-season refuge—same restorative mountain meadow setting that made the site famous in the Apache Wars era.
