Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve

Roughly 4,400-acre Nature Conservancy preserve of salt and freshwater marshes, mudflats, and uplands on the Great Salt Lake’s eastern shore in Layton. A mile-long boardwalk, open-air pavilion, and 30-foot observation tower frame one of the Western Hemisphere’s most important shorebird stopovers—American avocets, black-necked stilts, white-faced ibis, and heavy waterfowl use when water is present. Formerly the Layton Wetlands Preserve; sits between Farmington Bay WMA and the Antelope Island causeway corridor.
