Union Canyon silver camp west of Ione, named for Ulysses S. Grant after 1863 discoveries and revived after 1877 with a large stamp mill. Schoolhouse, mill ruins, adobe/stone structures, and scattered cabins remain among the stronger ruin sets in the Ione–Berlin country.
