Glen Canyon Dam spans the Colorado River just south of the Utah line at Page, Arizona, and impounds Lake Powell. The Carl B. Hayden Visitor Center sits above the dam on U.S. 89 with exhibits on the Colorado River Storage Project. The concrete arch dam went up through the late 1950s and early 1960s and still runs as a hydroelectric plant.
