Early Tintic Mining District camp on Diamond Gulch, settled 1870 after quartz crystals were mistaken for diamonds. Grew to stores, saloons, a school, and roughly 900 people before mine water and ore decline emptied the town by the 1890s (last house moved 1923). Surface town fabric is gone; the principal public remnant is the small Diamond Cemetery (NRHP 1979) — the field destination for this ghost town. Public surface visit only; surrounding hills are pocked with abandoned mines.
