Only a few hundred acres at the mouth of a drainage on the west side of the Guadalupe escarpment southwest of Carlsbad, Devil's Den Canyon WSA adjoins Forest Service and other wilderness units that together form a large interstate desert complex. Forest Road 540/3008 leads to the Devil's Den Trail trailhead; the short trail drops into the canyon and WSA.
