Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.
Congress designated the Coso Range Wilderness on the north end of the Coso Range east of Olancha. The unit holds eroded volcanic landforms, dry valleys, and wash systems on Bureau of Land Management land. North and east access is from State Highway 190 via four-wheel-drive routes SE9, SE10, or Centennial Canyon; western approaches leave U.S. 395 on Cactus Flat Road and other dirt tracks. There are no developed facilities inside the wilderness.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
