Railroad pass town inside Mojave National Preserve on the Union Pacific (ex–Los Angeles & Salt Lake) line between the Ivanpah and Mojave River basins. A store and post office from 1900–1905 served ranchers, miners, and the steep Cima Grade. Near-ghost store buildings sit beside still-active tracks and the dense Joshua-tree forest of Cima Dome; never walk the rails.
