Grand County, UT

Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.

On Kane Creek Road west of Moab, the Amasa Back Trailhead is the main entry to a mesa of slickrock and singletrack above the Colorado River corridor. The Cliffhanger 4x4 route climbs the ridge; non-motorized trails including Hymasa and the one-way Captain Ahab descent branch from it. The area looks across Kane Creek toward the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Study Area and belongs to the larger Kane Creek Recreation Area managed by the BLM Moab Field Office. Maps and junction signs are posted on the trail system.
